About

What is a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)?

An SLP is a professional who assesses communication skills and provides intervention for people who experience difficulties with speech and language – for example, not pronouncing sounds correctly, not understanding instructions, not making eye contact while communicating, etc.

About Me

I am a registered Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) with over 15 years of experience working with children and their families in the public sector (including ErinoakKids and Paediatric Outpatient Services at Trillium Health Centre) as well as privately.

I work with preschool and early school-aged children with varying communication difficulties and diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and Developmental Delay.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, including my two young and energetic children. They keep me on my toes, and have given me ample insight and perspective into child development.

Testimonials

“Ruchi Ambike provided play-based speech and language screenings at Peekaboo Child Care Centre for children at the centre who had parent and teacher identified communication challenges. She created and provided a professional consent form to the parents and maintained ongoing contact with the centre throughout the process.

Ruchi arrived at the centre the day of the screening early and prepared. During the screenings Ruchi was very professional, warm and engaging towards all the children, getting down to their level. She provided the children’s parents with a detailed report summary of her observations as well as contact information to receive further support for their child’s needs.

Having Ruchi complete speech and language screenings in the daycare was beneficial to both families and staff members.”
